Washes

It is possible to make washes using a black
water-based ink for woodblock printing. Rolled in a single layer
evenly onto the plate, the ink creates grains which later can be
etched. You can paint in the still-moist ground with a brush and
distilled water. It is also possible to mix the ink with distilled
water and to paint directly onto the plate.
Before etching the plate must be dried completely which depends
on the thickness of the application.
